Heritage Hog
When Carolyn Andrus’ animal goes through the auction ring at the fair, it will be the last hog because she is showing the Heritage Foundation animal this year. All proceeds from the buyer will be used to help pay for the $5 million barns, of which there is less than $700,000 remaining.
Carolyn was chosen from among seven applicants for the Heritage scholarship and is raising her hog for the Salinas Valley Fair. She is president of San Benancio 4-H and also president of the Salinas High School FFA chapter. She will be attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall.
“I applied for the Heritage animal scholarship because I wanted to represent the Heritage Foundation and give back to an organization that has given so much to the community,” she said. “The Heritage Foundation has always supported those in 4-H and FFA, especially by creating the wonderful buildings. The Heritage Foundation has given us young people a wonderful facility to be in. I believe supporting the foundation is the least we can do for all the wok the members of the foundation have put in for our benefit.”
She is the daughter of Kirt and Sandy Andrus of Salinas and has four siblings – Chrissy, Neil, Tim and John.
We have come a long way in making our dreams to building these new barns a reality. Our fundraising goal is $5,000,000 and we currently have 4,300,000 raised. What can you do to help?
